I don't believe anyone else in his place could have achieved what Zelensky did, but he is just a human being, living under unimaginable pressure for such a long time. He can't win the war by himself. He needs his army and I can understand why he is forced to compromise occasionally. But I also worry about the future of Ukraine. Your point is very valid. And there are so many other dark undercurrents that are now just swept under the carpet, because the war is a priority (understandably). I am afraid that Ukrainians (as well as Russians) will be paying the price for this war for a very long time after it ends.
Yes, you have put very well what I also felt. The decision of glorifying UPA felt like a blunder, but it might be a compromise. When all forces need to unite to defend the homeland, you as president must somehow please them all, inclusing the local fashists, who exist in every country. We don’t have his perspective.

Truth belongs to fundamental human values since Aristotle defined its triad as such. I often find that in uneasy topics, writing a story is genuinely useful: by exposing my standpoint I make it vulnerable to attack - fair enough, let it be: I am then reading valuable comments, like yours, and it helps me better see whether my position is valid or not. I am also not afraid to change opinion, if proven wrong.
Now, to respond your thoughts: I thought you had said that any country, such as the USA or Ukraine could have “their own history”, and in my response I was addressing that statement: no, I don’t think they should be creating their own histories (even though: yes, everyone tries).
To respond to your second point “why have you decided Zelensky following past criminals?”, two things: First, I am strongly against the “argument by authority”, a position which states that a heroic person should not be criticised. No, we are all human; I think it is fair to criticize Zelensky for particular actions, while I am myself in admiration of his other activities. Secondly, I never said he would be following some murky criminal record in general, I was pointing to one particular act of him which I find ominous: the naming of a contemporary military unit after historical organization with genocidal record, and his later explanation that he’d accept whatever soldiers decide. To me - scary. Wrong direction.
If this continues, Ukraine becomes like Putin’s Russia: fighting not from moral values, but from the viewpoint of falsified history. I think to many of us, it is extremely important that Ukraine has morally superior position. I want this to continue. If this disappears - the international support for Ukraine in this conflict will collapse.
