Making sense of travel: my past work
I’m moving my NomadicMind blog to Substack, so that readers can easily connect, subscribe be email, and stay in touch creating a community. The motto is ‘making sense of travel’.
I've been on the road for a while. The search for the meaning is important. If we don't, the act of travel becomes just another form of consumerism. My previous articles, mainly about Gambia, Senegal and Cape Verde, are here: nomadicmind.org. It is a collection of my random observations, things I saw and stories I heard from people.
There, you can read about the witch who cast disease on children and how the village got rid of her. How sorcerers heal people, and how they kill people.
On more socio-philosophical perspective, I wrote some thoughts about racism in Gambia, racism in Senegal, how the African poverty is not what we think and how even the numbers have different meaning (mathematics, African way)…. and many more short stories.
I intend to come back to those topics and work more on them - see my recent short story Demistyfing Tribal Wisdom. Please subscribe to be in touch.
